Medical Oxygen Generator Working Principle
The mainstream Medical Oxygen Generator is a pressure swing adsorption (PSA) type. It uses air as a raw material, physically separating and extracting oxygen. It eliminates the need for external oxygen storage and can produce oxygen in a recirculating manner, making it suitable for both medical clinics and home oxygen therapy. Its core principle is divided into four steps:
Raw Material Pretreatment:
Air Filtration and Purification
The air first passes through a multi-stage filter to remove dust, oil mist, moisture, and solid impurities. This prevents clogging of the molecular sieves or damage to core components, ensuring the purity of the subsequent oxygen production.
Core Separation: Pressurized Adsorption Oxygen Extraction
The purified air is pressurized and cooled by a compressor before being fed into an adsorption tower filled with molecular sieves (with a specific surface area of 800-1000 m² per gram). Under pressure, the molecular sieves preferentially adsorb nitrogen and carbon dioxide, allowing only oxygen to pass through, producing medical oxygen with a purity of 93% ± 3% (higher purity available on request).
Gas Storage and Output: Pressure Regulated and Adaptable
A portion of the oxygen enters the gas storage tank for pressure regulation. After being reduced by a pressure reducing valve, it passes through a flow meter (for flow control) and a humidifier (for humidity increase) for centralized oxygen supply in hospitals or home oxygen therapy.
Regeneration Cycle: Decompression, Desorption, and Reuse
After the molecular sieve is saturated with nitrogen, the system depressurizes the system to desorb and remove impurities. Simultaneously, a portion of the oxygen is backflushed into the adsorber to assist in regeneration of the molecular sieve. Pressurized adsorption is then restarted, achieving a cyclic oxygen production cycle and ensuring continuous oxygen supply.
