The development of pressure swing adsorption oxygen production technology in China started earlier, and the 1970s was the heyday of the development of PSA separated air oxygen production technology in China. More than a dozen units in the country have successively carried out experimental research on pressure swing adsorption oxygen production technology, and established several sets of industrial test equipment. The common features of pressure swing adsorption oxygen production equipment developed during this period are as follows:
(1) Most of them use higher than atmospheric pressure adsorption and atmospheric pressure desorption processes, and there are two to four adsorption towers;
(2) Before the air enters the adsorption tower, it is pre-treated by dehydration;
(3) The reliability of the equipment is poor, and it cannot operate continuously and stably, resulting in the scrapping of most of the equipment;
(4) Technical and economic indicators lag behind.
In the , the development projects of the original research and development units engaged in pressure swing adsorption oxygen production equipment were suspended successively, and the development of China's pressure swing adsorption oxygen production technology entered the trough again.
In 1995, Kunshan Jinhu Machinery Co., Ltd. built the VPSAO1000Nm3/h oxygen generator in Henan Luoyang Iron and Steel plant, which marked that pressure swing adsorption officially entered the industrial field in China, and also marked that pressure swing adsorption entered a period of rapid development in China.
The 1990s is a period of rapid development of China's pressure swing adsorption oxygen production technology, pressure swing adsorption oxygen production technology is gradually mature, and the comprehensive technical and economic indicators of some products are close to the advanced level of foreign countries. Years of practice shows that China's pressure swing adsorption oxygen production technology has stepped out of the laboratory into the practical stage. In the past ten years, through continuous technological update and research and development, China's pressure swing adsorption oxygen production technology is changing with each passing day and developing rapidly, and the gap between the world's advanced level is shrinking. However, from the overall level, there is still a certain gap between China and the international advanced level in many aspects. For example, in the research of new high-performance adsorbent, adsorption process improvement, theoretical analysis and mathematical model establishment, quality monitoring and automatic control and many other aspects.
